Antiquing…

Well, one of the truths of owning a chateau is that you actually have to fill the rooms with things! Believe me when I say that we had a LOT of furniture when we came here (our 40 foot container could not have fit another THING when it was loaded). That said, it’s still a pretty big space to live in. So, we’ve been doing our part for the local economy by purchasing at some antique stores, flea markets & auctions. We found one old store that is actually crammed with wooden furniture (such as armoires & cabinets) which has been a haven for treasure finding. We also frequent the Lyon “puces” (flea market) & any time we see a roadside flea market we stop. Going to the flea markets is hit or miss, as you have to wade through a lot of other peoples “treasures”, but even if we don’t find anything it makes for a fun afternoon, especially if we can get a French hot dog as part of the deal! Oh PS - the picture below of the open armoire - we got that at auction for $50, but it cost us $200 to move it!!
