To Cane or not to Cane?

So I have these two sweet, petite, antique little caned chairs. They’re nothing special, but great to have around when you have guests & need to add another chair to the table or an extra chair in the living room when the crowd gets a little bigger than expected. I’ve had them so long, I can’t even remember where or when I got them. Well, as caned chairs do, one of them started to fray & the weaving was brittle. A quote for one chair to recane was over $150 (& I’m pretty sure I didn’t pay that much for the pair of them). With these parameters, I thought I’d give caning a try. Peerlessratan.com / youtube were my guides. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5IRBuwONnA . Cindy Hammond of Peerlessratan is an excellent guide. It’s not an easy DIY task AND I’ll be the first to admit I would give myself a B+ grade…but it was a fulfilling project & I’m happy to have my sweet little caned chair back in rotation.
