Oldie but Goodie

This is a plant stand. I’ve had it for at least 25 years. It’s been outside with plants, inside with plants & has also been home to some cooking utensils at one point in the kitchen. The last few years it’s been used outside on my porch & it’s a tad worse for the wear. It had become quite rusty & I was a bit worried that the rust could impact its longevity. Alas, a project was born.

The hardest part of this project was doing a once over with a wire brush & steel wool to remove as much rust as I could. I know there are spray paints that contend they “stop the rust”, but I wanted to start with as clean of a slate as possible. SO….that resulted in about 2 hrs each row & another hour on the base de-rust-ifying. Not my favorite part but I think it was worth it. Then there was the obligatory white spray paint, because I can’t see it in any other color, can you?

It’s back outside for the summer of 21, with so many plants overflowing on it right now I couldn’t even see it in the pictures I tried to take. I thought it to be a tad bit “too new” looking, but I know in the next 25 years, I’m bound to put a few nicks in it moving it around & putting whatever needs to be put on it. I’m hoping in France it will sit outside & be a shelf for pots full of new flower varieties I’ve yet to discover.
